One dies in St. Paul blaze, marking fifth fire fatality of the year
One person is dead from injuries in an accidental fire that started in the kitchen of a St. Paul home Tuesday.
St. Paul firefighters responded to a fire at 11:12 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, in the 1600 block of Juliet Avenue in St. Paul. When they arrived, they found one person inside, who paramedics treated and transported to a local hospital, where they later died.
The fire was under control quickly. Investigators say the fire was accidental and started in the kitchen. Fire officials say cooking is the leading cause of fires in the state and nation.
The death marks the fifth fire fatality in the city this year.
