The Loop NFL Picks: Week 5

Jets vs. Vikings (-2½)
The unbeaten Vikings and their arch-nemesis Aaron Rodgers face off in London. The Jets’ quarterback admitted some of his throws “sucked” last week and prepared for the trip by doing his own research on how much ayahuasca, ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine he can take through customs at Heathrow.

Packers at Rams (+3½)
Green Bay police reported there were three arrests and six ejections of fans during Sunday’s game at Lambeau Field. The culprits apparently got carried away after they invented a drinking game where they took shots of hard liquor every time the Vikings scored.

Saints at Chiefs (-5½)
Kansas City receiver Rashee Rice likely will miss the rest of the season because of a torn knee ligament. Doctors say it will be at least several months before Rice can get into his old routine of driving 119 miles per hour.

Colts at Jaguars (-2½)
Jacksonville coach Doug Pederson insisted Sunday that he’s not worried about his job status after his Jaguars lost for the ninth time in their past 10 games. That stretch is easily the second-most embarrassing moment for the franchise, trailing only the reign of Urban Meyer.

Panthers at Bears (-3½)
Future hall of fame quarterback Tom Brady revealed that he considered signing with Chicago back in 2020 before moving on to the Buccaneers. The Fox analyst decided on his new team when he realized he’d have a significantly less chance in Tampa Bay of getting shot.

Giants at Seahawks (-6½)
Rookie sensation Malik Nabers made a reassuring Instagram post after leaving last Thursday’s game with a concussion. New York fans were relieved because the loss of their star wide receiver would leave the Giants with zero good players.

Cowboys at Steelers (-2½)
Pittsburgh quarterback Justin Fields had his biggest day as a pro, passing for 312 yards and a touchdown, and running for two more TDs last Sunday at Indianapolis. So Steelers fans will be surprised when they find out that coach Mike Tomlin again gave a game ball to Russell Wilson..

Raiders at Broncos (-2½)
Denver rookie quarterback Bo NIx evened his pro record at 2-2 last Sunday at the Meadowlands despite throwing for negative-seven yards in the first half. The Broncos’ 10-9 victory shows just how hard it is to lose to the New York Jets.

Dolphins at Patriots (-1½)
Tyler Huntley started at quarterback for Miami during its Monday night loss to previously-winless Tennessee. The journeyman qualified to play QB for the Dolphins because he was the only candidate who could simultaneously walk and chew gum.

Ravens at Bengals (+2½)
Baltimore’s Derrick Henry rushed for 199 yards and scored two touchdowns last Sunday night against Buffalo, and he’s currently on pace for another 2,000-yard season. It’s the surest sign yet that The Loop’s preseason fantasy predictions are never wrong.
