Nissan Teases a New Skyline While America Awaits Its Infiniti Twin
Nissan is once again stirring excitement around one of its most iconic names, teasing an all-new Skyline that looks set to blend heritage with a much sharper modern attitude. From the first preview, the new sport sedan appears to carry an aggressive face with vertical lighting elements up front, while the rear stays true to Skyline tradition by keeping the signature round taillight theme. It is a smart way to evolve the formula. Rather than leaning too hard on nostalgia, Nissan seems to be aiming for something that respects the past without getting stuck in it.
What makes this reveal especially interesting is that the Skyline is not headed to America wearing a Nissan badge. Instead, the U.S. market is expected to get a closely related Infiniti performance sedan based on the same platform. That means American enthusiasts may still get the substance of the new Skyline, just wrapped in a different identity. Reports suggest the Infiniti version could slot into a sweet spot between the Z and GT-R, giving the brand a much-needed performance flagship with real enthusiast appeal and a more serious edge than what we have seen from Infiniti in recent years.
The performance side of the story could be just as compelling as the design. Nissan’s twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 is expected to play a major role, and the Infiniti variant may push output as high as 450 horsepower while sending power to the rear wheels. The possibility of a manual transmission only makes the package more exciting. If all of that comes together, this new Skyline and its Infiniti counterpart could give Nissan and Infiniti a genuine halo sports sedan at a time when cars like this have become increasingly rare.
