Women’s basketball: Gophers rebound with victory over Jacksonville State

Tori McKinney and Mallory Heyer scored 14 and 12 points, respectively, as Minnesota bounced back from its first loss of the season by making quick work of Jacksonville State, 81-43, on Wednesday night at Williams Arena.

Amaya Battle added eight points, five assists and five steals for the Gophers (11-1), who dropped their first Big Ten game last Sunday at No. 24 Nebraska.

Taleah Dilworth scored a game-high 17 points for Jacksonville State, which fell behind 20-8 after one quarter and never got on track. The Tigers were outrebounded 45-25, and Minnesota scored 19 points off of 19 turnovers.

McKenna Johnson added seven points, three assists, a block and a game-high six rebounds for the Gophers, who are off until Dec. 20, when they’re host to Prairie View A&M at 2 p.m.
