Patriots to dress three QBs vs. Chargers; Deatrich Wise inactive with illness
FOXBORO — Despite losing his starting job to Bailey Zappe, quarterback Mac Jones is active Sunday against the Chargers.
Patriots defensive end Deatrich Wise, who had an illness added to his injury designation on Sunday morning, is listed among the Patriots’ six inactives, however.
Here’s the full list:
DE Deatrich Wise
OT Vederian Lowe
RB JaMycal Hasty
WR Demario Douglas
WR Kayshon Boutte
CB Alex Austin
The Patriots will dress Zappe, Jones and rookie Malik Cunningham at quarterback. Cunningham also will serve as depth behind wide receivers DeVante Parker, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Tyquan Thornton and Jalen Reagor with Douglas (concussion) and Boutte (shoulder/illness) out.
Lowe has been surpassed on the Patriots’ depth chart by Conor McDermott, who will back up starters Trent Brown and Mike Onwenu.
Hasty has yet to make his Patriots debut since being claimed off of waivers by the Jaguars. Austin also hasn’t played since being signed to the Patriots’ 53-man roster last month.
