Austria November 2024: Cupra breaks all records, BYD Seal repeats at #8

The Leon helps lift Cupra to new heights in Austria.

19,096 new cars hit Austrian roads in November, a modest 1% year-on-year rise. This leads to a year-to-date tally up 5.2% to 232,100. This month Volkswagen (+11.5%) reclaims the brands top spot off Skoda (+5.3%), with both manufacturers outpacing the market. BMW (-14.5%) struggles at #3 ahead of strong Audi (+19.4%) and Mercedes (+5.6%). Cupra (+153.6%) shoots up to break all records at #6 with 890 sales and 4.7% share. Its previous bests were #8 in July 2023 and 848 sales and 4.3% share in September 2023. Ford (+14.5%) and Toyota (+8.8%) also shine in the remainder of the Top 10 while below, Peugeot (+203.8%), Porsche (+203.6%), Alfa Romeo (+187.8%), Opel (+130%) and MG (+107.6%) stand out.

The Skoda Octavia (+20.8%) repeats at #1 for only its 2nd win of the year, distancing the VW Golf (-6.8%), however the Golf maintains an unassailable lead in the year-to-date charts. The BMW X1 (-7.1%) advances to #3 vs. #5 last month and year-to-date but falls year-on-year. The VW Tiguan (+45.2%) surges to #4 ahead of the Skoda Enyaq (-11.1%) and Dacia Sandero (-16%) both disappointing. The BYD Seal repeats at a record 8th place just as the VW T-Cross (+597.5%), Opel Corsa (+182.9%) and Cupra Leon (+177.7%) all lodge fantastic performances.
