Community Thread helps older adults, particularly those who desire to age in place, and supports volunteers.

Jaeger, of Hastings, spent 26 years at the YMCA, including 15 years in executive roles. In addition to his role at the YMCA of the North, he was executive director of the Hastings YMCA from 2013 to 2021; executive director of the St. Paul Eastside YMCA from 2009 to 2013 and senior program director at the Hudson, Wis., YMCA from 2005 to 2009.

Jaeger “brings significant expertise in facilitating community collaborations and managing membership-based programs, including senior and volunteer initiatives,” Community Thread officials said in a statement. “A skilled relationship-builder, Derrick has been actively engaged in the communities where he has worked, including chairing business associations, and collaborating with key community leaders.”

He has a bachelor’s degree in parks, recreation and leisure facilities management from the University of Minnesota-Duluth.
