The Minnesota women’s hockey team swept its two-game set against St. Thomas, winning 6-2 in Mendota Heights.

With a 70-shot effort, the Gophers were just too much for the spirited Tommies.

Minnesota sandwiched a St. Thomas goal by Rylee Bartz as the Gophers’ Peyton Hemp and Nelli Laitinen to put the visitors up 2-1 after the opening period.

Sydney Morrow opened the second period scoring before Hemp logged her second goal to put Minnesota up 4-1 after two.

Sadie Lindsay notched the Tommies’ second goal of the game in the third period, but again her score was sandwiched by two Gopher goals. Abbey Murphy and Chloe Primerano each scored for Minnesota, Primerano’s coming just before the final horn.

The Gophers improved to 12-4 with the win, while St. Thomas dropped to 5-12.
