Jags fall in extra innings

The Jordan softball team lost a marathon game on Monday.

The Jaguars lost 5-4 to Mayer Lutheran on Monday at the Jordan softball field in 13 innings.

The Crusaders won the game in the 13th inning when they drilled their third home run of the game to take a 5-4 lead.

The game was back and forth early as Mayer scored a run in the first inning for a 1-0 lead.

Jordan answered with two runs in the second inning on a two-run home run by Rebecca Mellin. Mayer quickly tied it up at 2-2 in the third.

The Jaguars scored single runs in the fourth and fifth innings for a 4-2 lead.

Mayer tied it in the sixth and than neither team was able to score until the 13th inning.

Lydia Plechaty had two RBIs in the loss and pitched all 13 innings, striking out 14 batters. Julie Plechaty had three hits for Jordan.

That loss came days after the Jaguars defeated Mayer Lutheran 5-1 on Friday.

Mayer went up 1-0 in the first inning but couldn’t score any more off of Plechaty, who gave up just three hits in seven innings of pitching.

Selena Dalton and Julia Plechaty each had two RBIs in that win.

Tournament

On Saturday, Jordan went 2-1 at the Benilde-St.Margaret’s tournament.

The Jaguars won its first two games of the tournament by beating St. Louis Park 2-0 and Concordia Academy 5-3.

They wrapped up the tournament by falling to Waconia 12-7.

“Overall, a great day of softball,” head coach Mary Bright said.

Lydia Plechaty got the win and only gave up one hit against St. Louis Park. She also went 2 for 3 at the plate while Emma Adamek went 2-4 and Selena Dalton had an RBI.

“A very well played game, and a nice win for us,” Bright said.

In the second game of the tournament, Jordan committed six errors and had only five hits but found a way to get the victory.

Lydia Plechaty got the win again, and went 2 for 3 again. Adamek and Julia Plechaty each had two RBIs.

“We didn’t really play well at all, but like they say sometimes you have to win ‘ugly’ and we did just that,” Bright said.

In the 12-7 loss to Waconia, Lydia Plechaty and Adamek went 2 for 3, with Lydia and Dalton each driving in two runs.
