Semi driver killed Friday while working on vehicle on I-494 in Inver Grove Heights
A man was killed Friday night when his semi-truck pinned him while he was working on it on Interstate 494 in Inver Grove Heights, according to the State Patrol.
Around 9:43 p.m., a 51-year-old man had pulled over on westbound I-494 near Babcock trail to perform maintenance on his 2007 Freight Liner semi truck when the vehicle pinned him, according to a State Patrol report.
The driver, identified as Jay Patrick Smith, was pronounced dead at Regions Hospital in St. Paul. His hometown and further details were not provided Saturday.
