Person arrested after trying to climb fence near White House: Secret Service
A person was arrested after trying to climb a fence near the White House Saturday morning, authorities said.
The suspect, who hasn’t been identified, was spotted by the Secret Service Uniformed Division around 11 a.m. while attempting to “climb temporary anti-scale fencing near the White House,” a Secret Service spokesperson told the Daily News in an email.
Anti-scale fences are designed to deter people from climbing over them. They are being used around the White House as preparations for next month’s presidential inauguration get underway.
According to the spokesperson, the individual didn’t breach the fence, was “quickly taken into custody and arrested for unlawful entry.”
The suspect was then taken to the Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia for processing.
No injuries were reported, according to the Secret Service.
