New Zealand November 2024: Toyota RAV4 hits record share
The Toyota RAV4 hits a record 12% share in New Zealand in November.
15,621 new cars found a buyer in New Zealand in November, a 7.6% year-on-year improvement. However the year-to-date tally is still down by a large margin at -14.9% to 118,713. Toyota (+13.2%) almost doubles the market growth rate to reach 26.2% share, its highest since the 27.4% it reached in October 2023. The next three carmakers all endure daunting falls: Ford (-14.1%), Mitsubishi (-12.4%) and Suzuki (-23.1%) all underperform. Honda (+43.8%), Mazda (+19%) and Volkswagen (+8.6%) all manage to beat the market in the remainder of the Top 10.
Over in the models charts, the Toyota RAV4 (+32.3%) once again is pushed up by rentals (accounting for 49% of its November volume) to an extravagant 12% share, a new record, eclipsing the 11% it reached last April. Note the rental ratio is much lower than the 81% of last month. The Ford Ranger (-24.8%) is in great difficulty at #2 but remains in the YTD pole position for now. The Toyota Hilux (+31.2%) compensates for a particularly low year-ago result and can’t muster more than 3.5% share vs. 5.8% so far this year. The Toyota Corolla (-13.6%) is down year-on-year but rallies back up 14 spots on October to #4 with 2.7% share vs. 1.5% year-to-date. The Mitsubishi Triton (+184.6%), Ford Everest (+52.6%) and Toyota Yaris Cross (+26.4%) stand out.
Previous month: New Zealand October 2024: Toyota RAV4 repeats at #1 with 10.8% share, 81% rentals
One year ago: New Zealand November 2023: Rentals keep Toyota RAV4 #1, MG breaks ranking record with MG 4 up to #6
