Men’s hockey: Gophers blank Michigan once again
Another night, another shutout.
The Minnesota men’s hockey team blanked visiting Michigan for a second-straight game, topping the Wolverines 2-0 in a Big Ten contest on Saturday at Mariucci Arena.
Goaltender Liam Souliere made 22 saves to keep Michigan 0-for Mariucci this weekend.
Once again, the game-winning goal came in the first period, this time on a Sam Rinzel power-play score at 16:41 of the initial stanza.
The majority of the second and third periods passed without further incident, until Jimmy Snuggerud logged the game’s final score at 19:49 of the concluding frame.
With the win, Minnesota upped its record to 14-2 on the year while Michigan fell to 10-4.
