According to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, the Falcons have been interested in landing Bill Belichick “for weeks.” Atlanta recently fired head coach Arthur Smith after a third consecutive 7-10 season. Belichick and the Patriots are parting ways after a 4-13 campaign, the worst season of his legendary 24-year tenure and the worst under Robert Kraft’s ownership.
Other teams with head-coaching vacancies include the Panthers, Titans, Raiders, Chargers, Seahawks and Commanders. Belichick’s level of interest in the Falcons’ job and/or others is currently unknown. He is expected to continue coach, just 15 wins away from breaking Don Shula’s all-time record for most wins as an NFL head coach.
Belichick and Kraft will hold a press conference at Gillette Stadium at noon.
