2027 Lexus RZ Arrives With Up to 301 Miles of Range, 402 Horsepower, and a $47,495 Starting Price
Lexus is keeping its all-electric luxury SUV competitive with the introduction of the 2027 Lexus RZ, bringing back the improved powertrains, longer driving range, and upgraded charging capabilities introduced for the 2026 model year. Starting at $47,495, including destination charges, the latest RZ continues to offer three distinct powertrain choices, ranging from an efficient front-wheel-drive model to a surprisingly quick 402-horsepower F SPORT. While the 2027 model isn’t a complete redesign, Lexus is building on the substantial improvements made last year, with updated equipment availability and a relatively modest increase in pricing. The new RZ is expected to arrive at dealerships in early 2027.
One of the biggest selling points remains the RZ 350e, which delivers 221 horsepower through its front wheels and an impressive manufacturer-estimated 301 miles of driving range when equipped with 18-inch wheels. That’s essentially unchanged from the substantially improved 2026 model, but it’s worth remembering that the earlier 2025 RZ 300e offered just 201 horsepower and up to 266 miles of range. The 2027 RZ 450e AWD steps things up with 308 horsepower and Lexus’ DIRECT4 all-wheel-drive system, although its estimated driving range is now listed at 260 miles, compared with 264 miles for the comparable 2026 model. Both versions utilize a 74.69-kWh lithium-ion battery, making them appealing choices for buyers prioritizing everyday comfort and electric driving efficiency.
For those seeking more excitement, the 2027 RZ 550e F SPORT AWD remains the performance leader with 402 horsepower and a manufacturer-estimated 0-60 mph time of just 4.1 seconds. Its estimated driving range is 229 miles with standard 20-inch wheels. The F SPORT also carries over one of the more unusual features introduced for 2026, Lexus’ M Mode simulated manual transmission. Using steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters, drivers can cycle through eight virtual gears accompanied by artificial engine sounds and simulated shift characteristics. It might sound strange for an electric vehicle, but Lexus is clearly trying to inject some traditional driving engagement into the EV experience.
Charging is another area where the RZ remains significantly more competitive than its earlier versions. The 2027 model retains the North American Charging Standard (NACS) port introduced for 2026, giving owners access to compatible Tesla Superchargers and other fast-charging networks. Under ideal conditions, the battery can charge from 10% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes using DC fast charging. An 11-kW onboard AC charger also supports Level 1 and Level 2 charging. Compared with the pre-2026 RZ, which used a slower 6.6-kW onboard charger and lacked a native NACS connection, these changes make the newer models considerably more convenient for everyday ownership.
Inside, the 2027 Lexus RZ continues to emphasize comfort, craftsmanship, and technology rather than reinventing its cabin. A large 14-inch Lexus Interface touchscreen comes standard, complete with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, power-adjustable front seats, and driver memory settings are also standard across the lineup. Luxury and F SPORT grades feature Ultrasuede-trimmed seating and upgraded ambient lighting, while an available Dynamic Sky panoramic glass roof allows occupants to adjust the amount of natural light entering the cabin. Available features such as Advanced Park with Remote Park, a digital key, and Traffic Jam Assist add convenience, while Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 remains standard.
The 2027 RZ also benefits from the chassis refinements and enhanced electric powertrain engineering that arrived with the previous model year’s updates. Increased structural rigidity, carefully tuned suspension components, and Lexus’ DIRECT4 all-wheel-drive technology help deliver a smoother ride and more predictable handling. DIRECT4 continuously adjusts power distribution between the front and rear axles depending on acceleration, cornering, and road conditions. While the overall driving experience should remain familiar to anyone who has driven the refreshed 2026 RZ, that’s not necessarily a bad thing considering Lexus’ emphasis on quietness, comfort, and composed road manners.
Pricing for the 2027 Lexus RZ starts at $47,495 for the 350e, representing a modest $100 increase over the comparable 2026 model. The 350e Premium starts at $49,970, while the 450e AWD begins at $50,995. Moving up the lineup, the 450e Premium AWD costs $53,470, the 450e Luxury AWD starts at $58,495, and the range-topping RZ 550e F SPORT AWD comes in at $58,770. All prices include a $1,395 delivery fee. Although the 2027 RZ doesn’t introduce the dramatic gains in power and range that defined the 2026 refresh, it continues to represent a much stronger electric luxury SUV than the original model that debuted in 2023. With a competitive starting price, improved charging flexibility, and the availability of a genuinely quick F SPORT model, Lexus has given the RZ a better chance of attracting buyers who might otherwise consider electric SUVs from Tesla, BMW, or Genesis.
