‘Coolest Thing Made in Minnesota’: A look at this week’s matchups

What started as a list of 64 Minnesota-made products has quickly narrowed to an eclectic 16.

A personal aircraft, the Swiss Army Knife of lawn mowers and, of course, SPAM, are some of the remaining contenders for the competition that will crown the “Coolest Thing Made in Minnesota.”

Presented by the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce and BMO, the competition is in its third round of voting this week with the public allowed to cast just eight votes.

“The excitement keeps growing as we move into the top 16,” said Doug Loon, president and CEO of the Minnesota Chamber, in a news release. “We’ve seen tens of thousands of votes come in so far, and what stands out is the incredible mix of products – from household names to small-town innovators – all getting strong support.”

Here are the eight head-to-head matchups vying for your vote this week:

SPAM vs. Perspectives Steel Shiplap

SPAM Classic from Hormel Foods, first produced in 1937, is taking on Perspectives Steel Shiplap, a durable siding with a woodgrain aesthetic from EDCO Products.
