Tonaya Reid, Naz Reid’s sister, shot and killed on Saturday in New Jersey
Toraya Reid, the sister of Timberwolves forward Naz Reid, was shot and killed outside of a New Jersey apartment complex on Saturday morning, according to the Ocean County prosecutor’s office.
Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced Shaquille Green was charged with murder in connection with the death, which took place in Jackson Township.
According to Billhimer, officers from Jackson Township police received a 911 call reporting shots fired and an unresponsive female on the roadway outside of the apartment complex. There, officers found Toraya Reid, who was deceased.
Other officers then saw Green running down a road. Green was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters.
Billhimer said the subsequent investigation determined Green — who he said had been in a dating relationship with Reid — is allegedly the individual responsible for the death.
Naz Reid is set to enter his seventh season in Minnesota, where he’s become a fan favorite, this fall. Reid signed a five-year deal this summer to remain with the Timberwolves.
