U women stomp Rutgers to lengthen home streak
Minnesota extended their home win streak to 13 games on Wednesday night with a 76-50 win over Rutgers, led by Amaya Battle’s 21 points.
Three other Gophers hit double figures, with McKenna Johnson adding 15 points, Grace Grocholski 12 points, and Sophie Hart notching her second career double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. The Scarlet Knights were held to 12.5 percent shooting beyond the arc.
Rutgers drew first blood, starting the game with a 2-0 lead, but Minnesota answered with an 8-0 run. By the end of the first quarter, the Gophers led 19-11, and they never trailed again.
The Gophers (16-1) also pushed their conference record to 4-1, and the Scarlet Knights (8-8, 0-5 Big Ten) still lack a conference win.
