Police seeking ‘people of interest’ in murder of Abington man, DA says
The investigation into the beating death of a 43-year-old Abington man has led authorities to suspect people who knew the victim, according to the Plymouth District Attorney.
Anthony Leverone, 43, was found “unresponsive” in the backyard of his residence on the 500-block of Plymouth Street when Abington Police went there a little before 7:30 p.m. on Friday to conduct a well-being check.
“Preliminarily, it appears that Leverone died of blunt force trauma, and high impact injuries,” the DA’s office wrote in a statement of the “active and ongoing investigation.”
That investigation has been composed of interviews of multiple people, watching surveillance video and searching cell phones, according to the DA statement. Investigators also found a blue Hyundai Sonata they believe is related to the crime in Taunton.
“The people of interest involved in this active and ongoing investigation were previously acquainted with the victim,” according to the DA statement.
An Abington Police notice asked that anyone with information regarding Leverone’s death call Massachusetts State Police detectives at 508-894-2584.
