Loons pick four college players in MLS draft Friday

Minnesota United selected Creighton midfielder Roman Torres and three other collegiate players during the MLS SuperDraft on Friday.

As a sophomore center mid, Torres scored three goals and added two assists in 17 games for the Bluejays last season. The 22-year-old Dallas native spent the 2023 season at Iowa Western Community College.

After Torres was taken with the 25th pick, the Loons selected Connecticut defender Kieran Chandler at No. 43, Kentucky forward Logan Dorsey at No. 55 and Rutgers defender Nick Collins at No. 85.

Dorsey, of Evergreen, Colo., scored a team-high 14 goals and chipped in three assists against 18 games for the SEC program last fall. Dorsey, 22, is the younger brother of Houston Dynamo winger Griffin Dorsey.

Chandler, of Simsbury, Conn., and Collins, of Mount Olive, N.J., are both 19 years old. Collins is 6-foot-4 center back, while the 5-foot-9 Chandler primarily played left back for UConn.
