‘Santa-antics’: Man rescued from chimney after fleeing Massachusetts drug bust
A drug bust turned into a seasonally appropriate rescue in Fall River as detectives removed a fleeing suspect who got stuck in a chimney.
Fall River police officers executed a search warrant at a house on the 100-block of Canal Street Tuesday evening when two men fled the scene, according to the police department.
One of the men escaped the situation while another “invoked the essence of the seasonal icon and attempted to hide inside of a chimney,” a police department spokesman wrote in a press release.
Police said Robert Langlias, 33, “quickly became stuck in the chimney and required the assistance of the very detectives he was previously fleeing from.”
Langlias was taken to a local hospital out of an abundance of caution for his “Santa-antics,” police said, and was medically cleared.
Langlias was charged with possession of both Class A and Class B drugs, as well as charges from outstanding warrants. A woman, Tanisha Ibay, 32, was also arrested “with less theatrics” and charged with the same possession charges.
A Herald request to the police department for comment on what type of drugs were allegedly found and a description of the escaped man were not immediately returned.
