Patriots activate Cole Strange in series of roster moves

The Patriots are activating offensive lineman Cole Strange off of the PUP list Tuesday, according to a source.

Strange will fill the spot on the roster left vacant when the Patriots released veteran wide receiver K.J. Osborn.

Strange, the Patriots’ 2022 first-round pick, has missed the first 14 weeks of the season on the PUP list. He tore his patellar tendon in Week 15 of the 2023 season.

Strange was the Patriots’ starting left guard in 2022 and 2023, but the team has had him focus on playing center in the three weeks since he returned to practice. Patriots starting center David Andrews is out for the season with a shoulder injury. Ben Brown has been filling in at the position since Week 6.

If Strange can successfully switch to center, then he could provide valuable depth behind Andrews in 2025.

The Patriots also signed kicker John Parker Romo to the practice squad and released linebacker Keshawn Banks. Banks was elevated from the practice squad in each of the Patriots’ last three games, when he contributed on special teams.

Romo is expected to push kicker Joey Slye as the weather turns more severe.
