Tommies fall 2-1 to Huskies

The St. Thomas men’s hockey team outshot host Michigan Tech 26-25, but lost a first-period lead and fell to the Huskies 2-1 in a CCHA matchup on Friday night.

Tommies defenseman Mason Poolman opened the scoring at 11:34 of the opening frame, assisted by Ryan O’Neill and Cole Miller. However, Tech returned the favor at 14:05.

The two teams remained tied until the third period, when the Huskies notched the game-winning tally at 10:13 and held the visitors at bay from there.

Tommies goaltender Aaron Trotter took the loss on a 23-save effort as St. Thomas dropped to 3-9-4 on the season, 2-5-3 in CCHA play.
