
Stillwater inmate dies after being found unresponsive
Authorities are investigating after an inmate at the Stillwater prison was found unresponsive and later died.
Staff found the inmate of the Minnesota Correctional Facility – Stillwater in Bayport around 2:45 a.m. Sunday, according to the Minnesota Department of Corrections.
Staff “provided life-saving measures while emergency medical services were called to the facility,” DOC officials said in a statement. Shortly after EMS arrived, they determined the inmate had died.
The inmate’s name was not immediately released, and officials gave no information about his cause of death.
