NH Gov.-elect Kelly Ayotte: Bay State, Boston engaging in ‘insanity’ over migrants

New Hampshire’s incoming-Gov. Kelly Ayotte is still keeping an eye on her southern border, and she’s apparently not happy with what she sees happening in the Bay State.

On Thursday Ayotte, who campaigned and won on a platform of preventing the Mass-i-fication of the Granite State, responded to a decision by the Boston City Council, and questioned the logic of embracing migrant arrivals when the state is already flooded with recently arrived families.

“Our neighbors to the south seem intent on proving that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result,” Ayotte said.

The insanity, according to the former U.S. Senator, is perfectly demonstrated by the Council’s vote to unanimously reaffirm Boston’s status as a “sanctuary city” in order to brace for the incoming second Trump Administration.

In a 13-0 vote, the council re-approved the Boston Trust Act, which “delineates the distinct roles and responsibilities of the Boston Police Department from those of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), thereby promoting trust between local law enforcement and immigrant communities.”

The law prohibits Boston Police and other city departments from cooperating with ICE when it comes to detaining immigrants on civil warrants, while still allowing for cooperation in criminal matters like human trafficking, child exploitation, drug and weapons trafficking, and cybercrimes.

From Ayotte’s northerly vantage point, it seems an exercise in futility.

“As they struggle with a billion-dollar illegal immigrant crisis, they are instead choosing to double down,” the Republican said.

The Granite State will be taking the opposite approach, according to its incoming governor.

“Here in New Hampshire, we are going to ban sanctuary policies and give law enforcement the tools to work together to ensure this crisis never comes to our towns,” she said.

Ayotte will replace outgoing Republican Gov. Chris Sununu on January 8, 2025.
