Boston parade shooting suspect on the run, police ask for help
One of the men charged with the broad daylight shooting during a Boston Caribbean Festival parade in 2023 is on the run.
The Boston Police Department on Tuesday issued a wanted alert for Gerald Vick, 31, of Dorchester. He is one of the four men indicted last winter of shooting at rivals without regard to bystanders during the annual J’Ouvert parade on Aug. 26, 2023, around the first block of Talbot Avenue in Dorchester.
In all, six men and two women were shot. Six of the victims were transported to area hospitals for non-life-threatening injuries while the remaining two victims suffered graze wounds and declined treatment.
Vick was charged in Suffolk Superior Court with eight counts of assault and battery with a firearm, unlawful possession of a machine gun, unlawful possession of a firearm, and firearm use in commission of a felony. He also has a default warrant out of the same court for other firearm offenses, police say.
The BPD describes Vick as a 5-foot-6 black man of about 155 pounds with multiple tattoos. Police say he has known ties to Taunton.
The BPD asks anyone who sees Vick to call 911 immediately. Anyone with information on his location should call detectives at 617-343-4712. Anonymous tips can be made through the CrimeStoppers tipline by calling 1-800-494-TIPS (8477) or by texting the word TIP to CRIME (27463).
This is a developing story.
