Toyota Unveils Redesigned Camry XSE Race Car for 2024 NASCAR Cup Series
Toyota has unveiled its redesigned NASCAR Cup Series (NCS) Toyota Camry XSE race car, set to make its debut in the 2024 NCS season. Building on the success of its predecessor, the Camry XSE Next Gen showcases a collaboration between Toyota, TRD (Toyota Racing Development, U.S.A.), and Calty Design, ensuring that the body styling closely replicates the recently unveiled 2025 Toyota Camry XSE.
One of the notable design features of the new Camry race car is the distinctive hammerhead styling on the front facia, complemented by an upper grille slot integrated into the updated slim and wide headlights. The larger lower grille area incorporates C-shaped corner vents, while the hood boasts new character lines and duct exits. The back facia reveals revised quarter panel styling and chamfered bumper corners that seamlessly blend into the rear bumper, creating a more sculpted appearance. The overall design reflects Toyota’s commitment to attention to detail, mirroring the aesthetics of the street version Toyota Camry.
Paul Doleshal, the group manager of motorsports at Toyota Motor North America, expressed excitement about introducing the 2024 Camry XSE race car to the track, highlighting Toyota’s dedication to creating a premier vehicle for their team partners to compete for victories and championships. He acknowledged the significant effort put into the car’s production, thanking TRD and Calty Design for their contributions.
Toyota’s presence in NASCAR is marked by its unique position as the only manufacturer showcasing three nameplates across the three national series. The Camry competes in the NCS, the GR Supra in the NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS), and the Tundra TRD Pro in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series (NCTS). Since joining these series, Toyota has achieved remarkable success, accumulating numerous wins and championships.
David Wilson, the president of TRD, emphasized Toyota’s commitment to continuous improvement on and off the race track. The Camry XSE race car reflects the brand’s dedication to enhancing performance and accurately mirrors the design attributes of the production Toyota Camry. Looking ahead to the 2024 season, Wilson expressed eagerness to collaborate with race team partners to optimize the performance of the newly-designed Camry race car, aiming to maintain Toyota’s legacy of leading laps, winning races, and competing for championships.
The 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season will see the addition of LEGACY MOTOR CLUB, bringing eight Toyota Camry XSEs to the track every weekend. The season will kick off with the Clash at the Coliseum exhibition race in Los Angeles, California, in February. Toyota remains poised to continue its success in NASCAR, showcasing its commitment to excellence in design, performance, and competition.
