Jaguar’s EV Foray is Finally Underway Starting With a Six-Figure Sedan
It looks like Jaguar isn’t just stepping into the EV game—it’s striding in with style and ambition. The British automaker has given us a first peek at its electrified future through a heavily camouflaged prototype, a striking sedan that straddles the line between a four-door coupe and a shooting brake. This car isn’t just another entry into the electric luxury market; it’s the start of what Jaguar calls its “new species” of high-end vehicles. The official unveiling? December 2, during Miami’s Art Week, alongside three other concept cars as part of a major brand reboot.
Jaguar’s reinvention aims to elevate it from a premium player like BMW or Audi to a true luxury contender, rubbing shoulders with the likes of Bentley and Maserati. That transformation will come with higher performance, advanced technology, and—naturally—a higher price tag. The first of these new-era vehicles is expected to cost between $130,000 and $140,000, signaling Jaguar’s intent to create a rarified and exclusive ownership experience.
According to Rawdon Glover, Managing Director at Jaguar JLR, this isn’t just about building another EV—it’s about redefining what Jaguar stands for. “Think of something that will be really different on the road,” Glover said. To get there, Jaguar’s design team explored 17 full-size models, each with wildly different design languages. The result? An “exuberant” and bold look that’s unlike anything on the road today. The December unveiling will showcase the first glimpse of this new design direction, signaling Jaguar’s intent to break away from its past while embracing a futuristic aesthetic.
Spy photos of the prototype hint at a vehicle with commanding road presence. Its elongated nose and high beltline give it a dramatic stance, and while it retains a grille for stylistic reasons, this is a fully electric car through and through. A closer look reveals a charging port subtly integrated above the front wheel on the right side.
While details remain sparse, Jaguar’s focus on a design revolution and its move upmarket suggests it’s taking a page from brands like Porsche, whose pivot to EVs has been wildly successful. Come December, Jaguar’s new direction could provide an exciting look at the future of luxury electric vehicles.
Stay tuned, because this isn’t just a new car—it’s a new era for Jaguar.
