Bodie Marcotte scored in the final second of the second period and Nick Boothroyd stopped all 24 shots as No. 26 Amesbury (10-10-2) stunned 10th-seeded Boston Latin 1-0 in a Div. 2 second-round boys hockey contest.

Elsewhere in Div. 2, Jay Lavoie led a balanced attack with a pair of goals as No. 4 Tewksbury (17-4-1) doubled up on No. 13 Duxbury, 6-3.

Josh Hersey’s third goal of the game broke a 3-3 tie early in the third period and No. 5 Triton (15-5-2) went on to eliminate 12th-seeded Watertown/Wayland 6-4 in a Div. 3 second-round contest. Mason Colby added a pair of goals for the Vikings, including an empty netter to seal the deal.

Caiden Brady’s goal in triple overtime gave No. 11 Winchester (14-10-0) a 2-1 win over sixth-seeded Belmont in a Div. 1 second-round battle of Middlesex League foes. The goaltenders were superb as Ethan Bauer had 34 saves for Belmont, while Graham Emerick turned aside 35 for Winchester.

Jackson Morse ripped home a one-timer off a feed from Devin Gosciak 39 seconds into the second overtime to give No. 8 Xaverian (15-6-1) a 2-1 win over No. 24 Barnstable. … Brady Chenevert converted a centering pass from Tyler Bergman with 3:02 left in the first overtime to give No. 14 St. John’s (Shrewsbury) a stunning 2-1 win over third-seeded Hingham.

GIRLS HOCKEY

Mia Kmiec scored both goals, while Julianna Taylor recorded the shutout as No. 4 HPNA (16-2-5) shut out 20th-seeded Shawsheen/Bedford/Lowell 2-0 in a Div. 1 second-round contest. Quinn Bennett and McKenna Mohr assisted on the goals.

FOOTBALL

North Andover hired Matt Cerullo as its new head football coach, replacing John Dubzinski, who stepped down following a successful run at the school. Cerullo has coached for two decades, the last seven coming at North Andover where he served as a defensive backs coach and later as the defensive coordinator.
