Red Sox lineup: Roman Anthony a late scratch from first spring training game
FORT MYERS, Fla. – After a long cold winter, Boston baseball is finally back. (In Fort Myers, at least.)
The Red Sox will play Game No. 0 on Friday, their annual exhibition contest with the Northeastern Huskies.
Two of Boston’s ‘Big 3’ prospects, Kristian Campbell and Marcelo Mayer, will be in the top-third of the lineup, but Roman Anthony, who was originally slated to lead off and start in left-field, was scratched from the lineup early Friday morning.
Trayce Thompson, brother of NBA player Klay Thompson, will lead off and play left instead. Thompson, 33, is a non-roster invitee to spring training. He’s played parts of seven seasons in the majors with the Chicago White Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, Oakland A’s, Chicago Cubs, and San Diego Padres. In 369 career games, he’s hit .212 with a .711 OPS.
