Bruins rule out Charlie McAvoy for 4 Nations final
The Bruins announced that their top defenseman and Team USA shutdown blueliner Charlie McAvoy is out for the 4 Nations Faceoff final on Thursday.
According to the team release, McAvoy was admitted to Mass General Hospital to undergo testing related to an upper body injury and is currently being evaluated by team physician Dr. Peter Asnis.
Earlier in the morning, Daily Faceoff’s Frank Seravalli reported that McAvoy was being treated for an infection stemming from a “minor” injury.
The loss of McAvoy presents a huge void for Team USA in its rematch with Canada on Thursday. His physical play, especially on Connor McDavid, was a major factor in the US 3-1 win over Canada in Montreal last Saturday.
