Flooding by the numbers

When flooding occurs in Shakopee, the impacts are as follows:

FLOODING CHART

708 ft. (minor flooding) : Little impact, increased probability of County Road 101 river crossing closing (levels around 710 trigger road closure)

713 ft. (moderate flooding): Campground flooded, Co. Rd. 101 river crossing closed, Valley Haven Trailer Park and Dangerfield’s Restaurant likely to flood (water levels around 714 produce flooding at Valley Haven)  
720 ft. (severe flooding): Campground flooded, Co. Rd. 101 crossing flooded and closed, Huber Park flooded, Valley Haven Trailer Park flooded (without intervention), Dangerfield’s Restaurant flooded.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Historically, the Minnesota River has crested between April 7 and April 16.

Past high crests: 721.80 ft. (April 15, 1965) ; 719.70 ft (April 15, 1969); 719.29 ft. (June 25, 1993); 718.10 ft. (April 19, 2001), 717.86 ft. (April 13, 1997), 717.40 ft. (April 29, 2001), 716.20 ft. (April 16, 1952), 714.83 ft. (April 14, 1951), 709.70 ft. (June 22, 2001), 708.40 feet (April 7, 1998). 
The river crossing remained open with the 2006 flooding.
The river crossing closed in 2001.
