GIRLS BASKETBALL

Naya Annigeri scored 16 points, while teammate Tess Baacke added 12 as Medfield cruised to a 65-31 win over Deer Park (Texas) at the KSA Tournament in Orlando, Fla.

Maddie Oliver had 18 points and five rebounds as Norwell defeated United South (Texas), 50-37.

Addy Andrews was named the showcase’s Most Valuable Player, finishing with 17 points as Cohasset captured the inaugural Cohasset Holiday Hoopfest championship with a 34-27 victory over Braintree.

Grace Foster put up 17 points for Cardinal Spellman in a 44-23 nonleague win over Shawsheen. … Meredith Gibbs dropped 18 points, and Emily Darin finished with seven points as Dover-Sherborn downed Dennis-Yarmouth, 44-30. … Alyssa Hopps paced her team with 21 points, including her 1,000th career as Quincy rolled to a 63-29 win over Weymouth. … Zoie Masalanka collected eight points and eight rebounds, and Madison McDonald registered eight points and eight assists as Abington defeated Sharon, 38-35. … Paige Meda scored 23 points, and Nola Timo added 10 points as Bourne (5-0) beat New Bedford, 44-41.

In nonleague action, Jack Millward scored 18 of his 40 points in the fourth quarter as Wakefield defeated Needham, 57-47. … JT Reale led all scorers with 22 points, nine rebounds and four assists as Hingham rallied to defeat Nauset in overtime 64-60. … Ayden Valentin (22 points) and Asante Aurora (20 points) set the tone for Dartmouth (3-3) in a 76-55 win over Bishop Stang. … Jake Brilliant tallied 19 points for Marshfield (3-0) in a 63-41 win over Dennis-Yarmouth. … In a nonleague meeting, Jariel Tolentino tallied 21 points and had seven rebounds, five assists, and four steals as Peabody notched a 66-59 win over Bishop Fenwick. … Connor Chiarello and Teddy O’Neill recorded 14 points each, and Dean Collins finished with 11 points as Swampscott (4-0) bested Mystic Valley, 71-29. … Caden Sullivan knocked down 22 points, while Joe Conlan chipped in with 11 points as Franklin defeated Brockton, 64-40.

Tzar Powell-Aparicio netted 20 points to guide Lowell to a 74-67 victory over Haverhill in the Greater Lowell Holiday Tournament championship.

Sonny Saparito buried the winning goal on the power play to give Stoneham a 3-2 nonleague victory over Masconomet. … Justin Dantona scored in overtime to give Melrose a 1-0 win over Amesbury. … Kyle Mann made 33 saves, and Brendan McCombe netted the winner in overtime to lift South Shore Voke (4-2) to a 2-1 win over Bourne. … Robbie McPhee scored twice and provided an assist as Dennis-Yarmouth/Cape Cod Tech/Cape Cod Academy (2-3-0) edged Pentucket, 3-2.

GIRLS HOCKEY

Nolan Craven and Giada Musa each scored twice as Pope Francis (3-3) defeated Framingham 8-1 in a nonleague contest. … Caroline Doherty notched a hat trick for Hingham in a 3-1 win over Malden Catholic. … Sarah McIntyre netted a hat trick, and Kayla Leonard and Clare Trodden scored also as Marshfield beat Whitman-Hanson/Silver Lake, 5-2.

CLASS NOTES

Thayer Academy boys basketball coach Mike Babul passed away unexpectedly at the age of 47. A standout player at North Attleboro where he was named the Gatorade Player of the Year in 1996, Babul went on to play at UMass where he was named to the Atlantic-10 All-Defensive Team three times. He spent time coaching at the college and G League ranks before accepting the Thayer job last year.
