Liam Payne was dropped by his psychiatrist before his death: report
Liam Payne’s psychiatrist reportedly dropped the One Direction singer before his frantic drug-related death in Argentina because the 31-year-old popstar needed a “higher level of care” than she could give him.
In a legal document obtained by TMZ, a therapist who’d been working with Payne before his fatal plunge from a hotel balcony in October claimed that after “careful consideration” she urged her famous patient to continue treatment that includes prescribed medication, moderation of alcohol use and weekly therapy sessions to help him process depression and trauma.
The shrink reportedly recommended specific practitioners and care centers better suited to meet those needs and wished him “the very best in your continued journey toward mental health and well-being.”
It’s not clear if he followed his former therapist’s recommendations.
Payne recorded a video in July 2023 in which he spoke of his struggles with addition, but said he was on the road to recovery.
“I just kind of feel live I’ve got more a grip on life now and everything that was kind of getting away from me I kind of have got more of a hold on,” he told supporters.
TMZ said he had cocaine, alcohol and an antidepressant in his system when he fell from the third floor of the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires.
Argentine authorities on Monday announced charges against five people in connection to his death. Two hotel employees are accused of providing the British performer with cocaine on multiple occasions, according to the BBC.
