Ski Wednesday: Blue Hills Ski Area Sign Post

Blue Hills Ski Area (https://bluehillsboston.com) is located in Blue Hills Reservation in Canton. There’s plenty of space in their four parking lots.

Lifts and more: Blue Hills skiers and riders are serviced by a double chair to the top along with three surface lifts. There’s a comfortable base lodge with food service along with a new rental shop with streamlined service and new Head gear for both skiing and riding.

A Little history: When Blue Hills became a ski area, the first operators brought in famed skier Hannes Schneider (the brain behind Cranmore Mountain and its ski school) to set things up.

Lessons and programs: Blue Hills offers everything from a single lesson to season long programs. For season-long kids programs, Explorers serves kids ages 4-6 on lift surface trails only, Adventurers ages 7-12 take it up to the next level, and Trailblazers ages 13-18 helps teens conquer all trails in a safe and smart way.

Those are all available weekday afternoons and evenings as well as weekend mornings and midday.

Stay tuned to their website for special adult and ladies programs this season.

Private and daily small group lessons are available as well.

After dark: Blue Hills offers night skiing with excellent lighting and full service in the night sking hours.

New this year: Tubing has come to the Blue Hills, open daily and at night, it’s a great way to check out the Blue Hills scene (and they hope, convince you to get on skis or a board next).
