Bruins lineup stays the same for Flames on Tuesday

You win and you’re in.

That’s at least part of the message from Bruins’ coach Joe Sacco in his decision to keep his lineup unchanged when the B’s take on the Calgary Flames at the Saddledome on Tuesday night (9 p.m.).

That means the Bruin debut of Oliver Wahlstrom, claimed on waivers last Saturday, will have to wait at least one more game.

But it’s not just that the Bruins won in Vancouver on Saturday, it was how they won – in dominant fashion, in all three zones. One of the things that helped them in Vancouver was that they had a good start. In their lopsided losses in Winnipeg and Seattle, the B’s took penalties on the first shift in each of those games.

“You have to make sure that whe the puck drops you’re ready to go,” said Sacco. “The starts are very important in this league. They’re not the end all be all. You see games across the league and teams do come back from being down one or two goals. But you still give yourself a much better chance when you’re ready to play and you can get on top of the opposition early.”

Jeremy Swayman will get his second consecutive start.

On November 7 at the Garden, the B’s salvaged a 4-3 victory over the Flames on a Brad Marchand overtime winner after they coughed up a two-goal third period lead. Calgary, 11-4-1 at the Saddledome, has been a much different animal at home. The Flames are coming off a 3-0 victory over the Florida Panthers on Saturday.

“They’re a team that works for their ice. There’s not a lot of easy ice out there. They get to the inside. You’ve got be prepared to dig in against them,” said Sacco.

After two disastrous games to start, the B’s hope to pull even for the five-game trip. They finish up the roadie on Thursday in Edmonton.
