Boston weather: More rain, above average temperatures on the way
Boston will see another wet week with variable temperatures, according to National Weather Service forecasts.
“The first half of the week will be mild and unsettled,” said NWS Boston meteorologist Rob Megnia. “We’re looking at a chance for some showers, some rain tomorrow night into Tuesday morning. Temperatures are going to be above normal on Tuesday, in the mid to upper 50s.”
The Boston region is expected to start off the week Monday with the high in the low 40s before temperatures are expected to spike notably Tuesday, according to the NWS. The high Tuesday will reach the upper 50s, the warmest point forecast in the week ahead.
The average high for Boston for this time of year is 42 degrees, putting Tuesday high potentially 15 degrees above seasonal temperatures.
The early week is expected to see significant rainfall, NWS forecasted, concentrating on Monday night.
“After the rain on Monday night to Tuesday, we’ll dry out briefly for Wednesday, and we’ll get cool briefly,” said Megnia. “Near normal low temperatures Wednesday morning in the upper 20s, low 30s.”
Temperatures are expected to remain higher than average Wednesday, Megnia said, with the high “maybe touching 50 degrees.” Another “substantial rainfall event” is expected to return headed into Wednesday night, he added.
“Then as we get into the end of the week, it’ll be kind of a cool and unsettled trend,” Megnia said. “Once that that rain gets out of here, it’ll be chilly temperatures near normal, highs in the mid- to upper 30s and then lows in the mid 20s.”

Though forecasts for the weekend are still uncertain, temperatures are expected to drop. A possibility of snow is also “in the mix,” Megnia said, starting on Friday and headed into the weekend.
Any snowfall is not expected to be a “blockbuster event,” Megnia said, likely remaining milder.
