Catholic Charities appoints Jamie Verbrugge as president and CEO
Catholic Charities Twin Cities has named Jamie Verbrugge, the longstanding city manager in Bloomington, as the nonprofit’s next president and chief executive officer.
Verbrugge will transition to the new role over the next several weeks and is scheduled to officially assume the helm of one of the Twin Cities’ largest social services charities and providers of emergency shelter to the homeless on Jan. 21.
Desirae Butler, chair of Catholic Charities Board of Directors, said in a written statement that Verbrugge had shown “deep personal connection to Catholic Charities” and a “proven professional track record, commitment to public service, and strong leadership skills.”
Verbrugge has been city manager in Bloomington for the past nine years, and previously held managerial roles in Brooklyn Park, Rosemount, Eagan and Richfield. He’s also a longstanding public address announcer for the University of Minnesota’s athletics department, serving as the voice of football, men’s basketball, men’s hockey, baseball and wrestling. He has served on at least seven nonprofit and civic boards, including as past president of the Bloomington Noon Rotary Club.
Verbrugge will succeed former Catholic Charities CEO Michael Goar, who was appointed president and CEO of Sisters of Charity Health System earlier this year. Chief Financial Officer John Marston has served as interim president and CEO since August.
Ballinger Leafblad, Inc. assisted an executive search committee with a nationwide search led by Catholic Charities Board Chair Desirae Butler.
