Jaguar Type 00 Electrifies Miami Art Week with Bold Vision for the Future
Jaguar’s electric revolution takes center stage with the debut of the Type 00 Concept, a striking showcase of the brand’s artistic and technological ambitions. Premiering at Miami Art Week, the Type 00 isn’t just a car—it’s an expression of Jaguar’s creative evolution. The concept car blends vivid colors, geometric elegance, and minimalist cues, drawing from the brand’s rich history while setting its sights firmly on the future.
The Type 00, pronounced “zero-zero,” is emblematic of Jaguar’s vision for modern design, described as “Exuberant Modernism.” Its exterior is a masterclass in simplicity and sophistication, with a long hood flowing seamlessly into a sleek fastback. Razor-thin lighting elements adorn the front, with a subtle rectangular grille embossed into the body. Bold vertical panels behind the front fenders give a nod to classic design, while brass ingots house deployable rear-facing cameras. Eschewing a traditional rear window, Jaguar introduces a “pantograph tailgate,” an innovative solution that emphasizes form and function.
Access to the vehicle is equally dramatic, thanks to butterfly doors that provide a grand entrance to the front seats. At the rear, a rectangular grille-like structure integrates full-width taillights, creating a cohesive yet daring design language.
Inside, the Type 00 is a celebration of minimalism and material innovation. A brass spine divides the flat front seats, while two screens rise from the dash, eliminating traditional controls and instruments. The materials are as audacious as the design itself: a wool blend inspired by artisanal handwoven yarns and structural elements crafted from travertine stone. Yes, actual stone supports the seats and center console, delivering a tactile and visual experience unlike any other.
While Jaguar remains tight-lipped on the mechanical underpinnings of the Type 00, the concept utilizes the company’s new JEA architecture, tailored specifically for electric vehicles. Promising an EPA-estimated range of 430 miles and rapid charging capabilities of up to 200 miles in just 15 minutes, the platform underscores Jaguar’s commitment to EV performance.
Though the production model inspired by the Type 00 won’t arrive until late 2025, spy shots suggest a sleek four-door GT silhouette. Jaguar’s reimagined electric lineup aims to rekindle the awe once inspired by icons like the E-Type, as CEO Adrian Mardell puts it: “We will create the same sense of awe that surrounded iconic models.”
With the Type 00 Concept, Jaguar sets a bold tone for its electric future—a masterstroke of design, artistry, and innovation. As the brand transitions into a new era, this electrifying preview signals that Jaguar is not just chasing trends but redefining them.
