Ecuador October 2024: Market off -20.4%, Chinese up to 34.5% share

Chinese brand KYC breaks into the Ecuadorian Top 10 in October.

The Ecuadorian new vehicle market endures another painful loss in October at -20.4% year-on-year to just 8,245 units. The year-to-date tally is therefore down -19.2% to 91,393. In the brands ranking, Chevrolet (-12%) resists better than the market to hold 17.9% share vs. 18.7% so far this year. Kia (-30%) and Toyota (-36%) are in great difficulty on the podium whereas Chery (+3.6%) swims upstream at #4. Chinese fares KYC (+99.2%) and GWM (+19%) are the only gainers in the remainder of the Top 10. Further down, notice Citroen (+72.7%), Sinotruk (+52.9%), JMC (+42.9%) and Dongfeng (+10.1%). As a whole, Chinese carmakers drop by just -4% year-on-year to reach 34.5% share vs. 28.5% in October 2023.
