Patriots WR Javon Baker delivers quote of the draft about his playing style

Jacon Baker wasn’t smiling as he went on Instagram live after he was drafted No. 110 overall by the Patriots.

Not because it was the Patriots that drafted him, and not because he wasn’t excited to get started in the NFL. But because it “took too (expletive) long.”

So, what’s his mentality after having to wait until Day 3 of the draft to come off of the board?

“It’s just kill whoever on the other side of me. That’s really my mentality,” Baker said Saturday afternoon in his introductory video conference call with reporters. “That’s it.”

The UCF wide receiver caught 52 passes for 1,139 yards with seven touchdowns in 2023. He began his career at Alabama before transferring after the 2021 season. He was first-team All-Big 12 in 2023 and finished second among FBS receivers in yards per reception.

So, what can fans expect from Baker’s game?

“Just come to y’all stadium and bring your popcorn,” the fourth-round pick said. “That’s all I can tell y’all. Bring your popcorn. I make people in wheelchairs stand up. Bring your popcorn.”

One scout told the Boston Herald that Baker does some “rare (expletive)” but is also inconsistent. Baker said he can play any of the receiving roles in the Patriots’ offense.
