Stop horsing around!

Four “sneaky horses” reportedly escaped from their enclosure in New Hampshire on Thursday, as local cops responded and helped corral the foursome.

Exeter Police officers before 10 a.m. went to Drinkwater Road after the horses had escaped, and were checking out their neighbor’s property.

“They just kept running away, so I went to the stable and grabbed some horse food,” said Officer Arthur Joseph. “I started shaking it and they came to me.

“Once I got the food it was easy, but at first they kept running further down the person’s property,” he added.

The food apparently did the trick. Within about 15 minutes, the officers were able to successfully lead the horses back home — and the cops made sure they were properly penned while the owner was en route.

The horse escape was a first for Sgt. Joseph Byron, who has spent two decades in law enforcement. He said public safety was the top concern.

Byron added, “We were concerned that they were going to run into the roadway, but once we got them contained they seemed to follow the lead of Officer Joseph and that lead horse.”
