2024 Lexus TX PHEV displays beauty and luxury

You heard it here first! As a Volvo fan myself, there are not a lot of manufacturers that do it better, as the competition seems to always be chasing Volvo’s design, comfort and pricing. But with Lexus sharpening their pencil, we may have ourselves something here. I give you the 2024 Lexus TX550h+ Luxury. This 6-passenger hybrid SUV takes a chapter right out of the Volvo handbook and capitalizes on many categories for their new SUV release. Utilizing a lot of the Grand Highlander’s exterior features and riding on 22-inch, multi-spoke alloy wheels, the 3.5L V6+ Lexus Plug-in Hybrid electric drive with electronic CVT transmission is present. Producing 404 horsepower with DIRECT4 AWD, our Lexus TX was wrapped in Nightfall Mica Blue Metallic, similar to our GX550 tester; an amazing color to say the least.

With 2nd row captains, our PHEV offered 26-miles on full electric power in EV drive mode, while the TX PHEV still ranged 28 mpgs on our week-long test. Interior wise, this is all Lexus as the comfort and display is that of the GX and other SUV/truck models. With a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system, center console storage and cup holders, the TX 550h+ Luxury was ready for both everyday use and weekend grocery getting/people moving. Its low to the ground stance was exceptionally nice as the luxury full-size SUV category can get overly tall at times. But this was more like the XC90 from Volvo or the X5 from BMW.

Volvo, you have one knocking on your door and they are closing in fast. The 2024 Lexus TX is a beautiful vehicle and one that deserves all of the accolades as its recent release to the consumer market is a great one. Although the TX comes with a CVT transmission, which offers its whiny transmission-like noises at times, the TX has a lot of pep and gets out of its way swiftly. As Grasso’s Garage is not a fan of the CVT transmission, Lexus does a good job in keeping the noise under control in the TX making it an enjoyable ride for many.
