Red Sox lineups: Rafael Devers starting at DH, Masataka Yoshida sits

Rafael Devers is back in the lineup and will serve as the designated hitter after leaving Tuesday’s game early due to left knee discomfort.

Pablo Reyes will start at third base in Devers’ place, and Masataka Yoshida will get the night off.

Yoshida being squeezed out of the lineup is a consequence of the club’s superior defensive options in the outfield and the need to keep Devers’ bat in the order. Yoshida is also coming off a brutal performance against the Guardians in which he went 0 for 6 and struck out to end the game in the 11th inning.

The Red Sox will instead start Jarren Duran in left field along with rookies Ceddanne Rafaela in center and Wilyer Abreu in right. Triston Casas will start at first base, Enmanuel Valdez at second, David Hamilton at shortstop and Connor Wong at catcher.

Tanner Houck (2-1, 2.04 ERA) is set to take the hill for Boston against Cleveland’s Ben Lively (season debut).
