2024 Maybach GLS600 is over the top

In Grasso’s Garage, there are multiple types of luxury. Those who enjoy driving and those who enjoy being driven. This week, we finally identified one that has both features and displays it very well; the 2024 Maybach GLS600. This glimmer of luxury is exactly that, the ultimate version in fact, as Mercedes continues to utilize the Maybach nameplate for its exquisite display of fine luxury and accouterments.

Starting on the exterior, a two-tone Mojave Silver and Emerald Green Metallic paint job is witnessed; not my favorite but one that certainly confirms its Maybach stature. Riding on 23” forged Monoblock wheels, the Maybach GLS600 is similar to that of your couch, for the passengers at least. On the inside, this is luxury at its finest. 2 rear reclining and massaging seats with footrests, pillows, a champagne bottle sized refrigerator, folding tables that hide in the rear center console, wireless charging station and champagne flute holders. Controls for the volume and other items are also witnessed. Mind you, this is all of the rear passengers to enjoy, confirming this vehicle is meant to be driven in. For the driver and front passenger, its typical Mercedes, a large infotainment system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, wireless charging, heated and ventilated and massaging seats, and the center console touchpad for operation of the infotainment system.

Powering the Maybach GLS600, is the 4.0L Bi-turbo Mercedes power plant, providing 550 horsepower and 536 lb-ft of torque. 4Matic all wheel drive and an array of drive options/safety features were present. We utilized sport mode for that enhanced sporty feel on our week long tester which a quicker demand for power and lower ride height. A 4 year / 50,000 mile warranty and 24-hour roadside assistance was included in the GLS600, while options seemed to be at the forefront of the price tag. Coming in at just under $175K, the paint option was an additional $18,500, while the wheels, fridge, tables, and flute holders totaled just under $10K.

As Mercedes continues to try and lead the upper luxury category, they do a great job with basics where needed and provide strict attention to detail when required. The Maybach is stylish on the interior, while onlookers certainly know what it is when they see it from afar. In today’s market, this beast of an SUV brings everything they have to the table, along with the price tag.
