Throwback Thursday: Celtics win first championship in ’57
The road to Banner 18 had to start somewhere – April 13, 1957. That’s when the Boston Celtics won their first NBA Championship against the St. Louis Hawks in Game 7, 125-123. There wasn’t a Duck Boat parade, but the win took place in Boston and fans were thrilled. When this photo was taken that day, Celtics’ Tommy Heinsohn, center, was swarmed by jubilant fans.
