Police investigating reported sexual assault in Cambridge
Police are actively investigating a reported sexual assault that occurred in Cambridge on Friday night, according to a release from the Cambridge Police Department.
Cambridge police responded to the area of Cambridgepark Drive after 9 p.m. on May 17 for an assault in progress. The victim, whose identity was not immediately disclosed, described the assailant as a masked man with a knife.
Detectives processed a crime scene in the bathroom inside a commercial building.
The state police and the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office are aiding Cambridge police in the investigation. Extra police presence has been established throughout the area as a precaution, according to officials.
Anyone with information on a possible assailant can anonymously contact Cambridge’s tip line at 617-349-9151. No further update on the investigation was immediately provided by officials.
