Austria March 2024: Tesla Model Y #1, Mitsubishi ASX #10
The Mitsubishi ASX (a rebadged Renault Captur) cracks the Austrian Top 10 in March.
25,701 new cars found a buyer in Austria in March, a -2.3% year-on-year drop. The Q1 volume remains up, just, at +0.3% to 63,263 units. Volkswagen (-2.9%) easily retains the brands pole position at 13.2% share, distancing a struggling Skoda (-14.6%). Seat shoots up 42.3% to rank #3 vs. #6 over the Full Year 2023. BMW (-2.5%) follows and marches the market but at 6.5% share it is well below its Q1 level of 7.3%. Suzuki (+185%) manages by far the biggest year-on-year lift in the Top 10, with Toyota (+21.3%), Dacia (+3.9%) and Mercedes (+2%) also up. Below, Mitsubishi (+461.7%) scores a surreal gain and climbs to #11 vs. #24 over the Full Year 2023. BYD (+554.3%) and Nissan (+164.8%) also impress further down.
Over in the models charts, the Tesla Model Y (-15.8%) reclaims the top spot with 3.8% share but drops significantly year-on-year and is #3 year-to-date. It is followed by the Skoda Octavia (+13.5%) and the VW Golf (+47.1%). The Seat Ibiza (+128.5%) continues to surge at #4 with the Toyota Yaris/Cross (+38.4%), Dacia Duster (+19.6%) and VW Bus (+60%) also in great shape. The Mitsubishi ASX makes a splash in its new form as a rebadged Renault Captur and ranks #10 overall, vastly outselling its twin. The MG ZS (+224.5%) breaks into the Austrian Top 20 for the first time.
