Red Sox injury updates
Trevor Story‘s season is all but over. Craig Breslow announced Tuesday afternoon that the shortstop will undergo surgery Friday to repair a fractured glenoid. The recovery timetable is sixth months, which effectively ends his season after eight games.
The Red Sox also placed Nick Pivetta on the 15-day injured list Tuesday (retroactive to Apr. 6) with what Breslow described as a “mild” right-elbow flexor strain. Brennan Bernardino has been recalled from Triple-A Worcester to take his place on the active roster.

The Red Sox first homestand is also their longest of the season. After three games with the Orioles (Apr. 9-11), they’ll welcome in the Angels on Friday for a three-game set (Apr. 12-14).
The Cleveland Guardians arrive next Monday for a quartet (Apr. 15-18), including the traditional 11:10 a.m. Marathon Monday game.
