Far-left Democrats spit out their coffee just before 7:30 a.m. yesterday when Donald Trump declared he supports state rights when it comes to abortion.

That now ends all talk of any national ban. It also means President Joe Biden just lost whatever hope he had of seizing the high ground in the abortion debate.

Trump is making a savvy political calculation to win the election. There’s never been any doubt, but yesterday morning’s announcement proves he is out to not only beat but swamp Biden come Nov. 5.

“The states will determine by vote, or legislation, or perhaps both, and whatever they decide must be the law of the land – in this case, the law of the state,” Trump said in his Truth Social video message. “Many states will be different. Many states will have a different number of weeks … at the end of the day, it is all about the will of the people.”

As it stands, 14 states have outlawed abortion completely, while 11 states have implemented gestational age restrictions, The Hill reports, with “one in five women” having a personal connection to the subject. Like it or not, abortion is pivotal in the 2024 race.

Trump will take some heat from anti-abortion groups, including many religious organizations, but he is out to win. Period.

He’s backing the U.S. Supreme Court’s landmark Roe vs. Wade “Dobbs” decision in 2022, ending the constitutional right to abortion while praising the conservative justices who “ended it.”

The Democrats have a problem that is now magnified. Biden’s Catholicism made him uneasy with the concept of abortion to begin with, but he has no choice but to try to attack Trump on the margins of this debate.

That’s why the Biden campaign was quick to hit back.

“Donald Trump made it clear once again today that he is – more than anyone in America – the person responsible for ending Roe v. Wade,” Biden’s camp wrote in an email blast Monday. “He is – more than anyone in America – responsible for creating the cruelty and the chaos that has enveloped America since the Dobbs decision.”

In the Bay State, Gov. Maura Healey echoed the Democratic party line with a dig about the local fallout from the Supreme Court’s ruling.

“In Massachusetts, we are still seeing the impact of Donald Trump’s actions. More women than ever are coming to our state for reproductive care, straining providers and threatening access to essential health care,” Healey said in a statement. “Massachusetts is a beacon of reproductive freedom, and I will work every day to make sure abortion remains safe and legal. But one thing is clear – Donald Trump is a threat to the rights and health care of women in Massachusetts and across the country.”

But this is about what brings out the vote. Inflation is still dragging Biden’s poll numbers down. His performance on the world stage isn’t much better. His age is a major issue as is his Vice President Kamala Harris.

It’s still not sure if Biden will even debate Trump and Trump’s VP pick is bound to show how irrelevant Harris has become.

As Squad devotees clean up coffee stains while doomscrolling following Trump’s post, it’s clear they should be thinking seriously about a surrogate candidate. The DNC convention in August isn’t that far away.
